Sermon Notes - Religious Theorist or Loving Christian

Theme: Religious Theorist or Loving Christian?

(Putting Faith into Practice)!

Key Preaching Verses

Luke 10.27-28The teacher of the law answered Jesus “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[c]; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ ‘You have answered correctly,’ Jesus replied ‘Do this and you will live.’”

Focus Questions

  • What does it mean to live out the great   commandment   to love God with all your heart and your neighbour as yourself?
  • Who is my neighbour? (Luke 10:29)
  • Who is not my neighbour? (Luke 10:30ff)
  • Who proved to be a neighbour? (Luke 10:36)
  • What must I do to receive eternal life? (Luke 10:25 &   27)
  • Can you define in practical terms what it means to be a good neighbour?  “Jesus said, ‘You go then and do the same!’” (Luke 10:37)
  • What acts of justice, kindness and compassion have accompanied your faith journey?  (Don’t be bashful – encourage one another with stories of grace!)
